Season started...

About a year ago I was sitting on my ass in a hotel room in China watching Poor Boyz Productions: Everyday is a Saturday and just dreaming about snow. I also ended up starting my season in late December after I returned from China for some personal reasons.

Since then a lot has happened, my blog name changed from The Art of Travel to Everyday is a Saturday. I also made a deal when I returned to work at Boulderkeskus for a year, and after that head off to do some work in my on field of studies. That plan also changed when Jarmo asked me to start running his company, so my year has been extended for at least three years, and my late start in the ski season has been replaced to an early start which was yesterday.

My new Line's on the left and my old K2's on the right.

Finland had a really hot summer this year, which made climbing hard, we had a really good but short fall sea
son for bouldering, and now we had an early start with the ski season after a bit of snowfall.

So yesterday we headed out to a tiny ski centre called Serena, our intention was just to hike th
e tiny thing as they open around 4 pm but unfortunately the gates were closed, they were making new snow and building up some jumps so it was off limits. So we ended up hiking up an even smaller one near my work called Malminkartanon Jätemäki. This certain piece of dirt takes under five minutes to hike up and around 20 seconds to come down with one turn on each run down. But still the season was opened, the new skis got their first turns in, and my BD Factor ski boots felt as good as my new skis.

No it's not me attending After Ski yesterday, it's from our Cave's "Christmas Party".

Now it’s time to get some ski days down before our trip to Norway in January. My hopes are high for at least 20 days of jibbing, jumping and just having fun with my mates. The weather service here in Finland has promised quite a few days of snow in the near future so the season looks quite promising at the moment and hopefully we will get a lot of that white gold on the ground this season.

At the end I also want to say that the past year since I came back from China has been one of the best ones in my life, the following photos are just some random snapshots from the La Sportiva Climbing Party we hosted a few weeks ago.
